Last year I received a painting of my dog Tyson for my birthday. 
It was the best surprise I could ever have hoped for. My little Schnauzer Poodle cross has been the love of my life since we adopted him at 6 months of age. He is now almost 13 and will not be around for ever. The painting has captured his essence and spirit so sweetly and beautifully that my dog will live forever in this picture. Jan has an amazing creative talent and ability to define that special connection we have to our favorite animal. With a brush stroke, she brings that personality to light and delight. I am so blessed to be able to have the spirit of my beloved pet with me when I need him and want to feel close.

This most excellent realist, animal painter Jan Dawson was able to capture my wetter than wet, very happy Border Collie 'Rusty' at Cultus Lake a couple of years ago. The painting is so realistic that it almost barks. All who see it are amazed that Jan has captured not only the physical but the emotional state of Rusty in his glory! The photo of Rusty and the painting in the back of my vehicle attest to the accuracy of the discerning eye of Jan Dawson. We are extremely pleased with this commissioned portrait and would not hesitate to recommend Jan Dawson to any animal lover looking for an accurate rendition of their loved 'Furry Person'! Rusty is in his senior years now and will not be with us forever, as the portrait will.

My wife and I were so touched to receive one of Jan's paintings of our dearly departed Welsh Corgi Vippy as a Christmas present. She really captured the essence of him through his wonderfully deep, loving eyes. 
We miss him very much and I have him right beside the bed where I sleep so I can see him and feel a little bit of his spirit. The painting has helped us to cope with the loss of him after 15 years.
