About the Artist
For as long as I can remember, I have loved to create images. I remember there being a scratch on our refrigerator when I was a child. I proceeded to make the scratch larger as I created a picture with it. Needless to say, my parents were not so happy about that! I also used to enjoy drawing large pictures on my bedroom wall with chalk. My parents got the message that I somehow needed to paint and draw so they sent me to Beaux Art Studio in North Vancouver when I was 11 years old. There I learned to paint in a variety of mediums and I was introduced to life drawing. I learned to see and appreciate the natural world around me at that early age and that appreciation has stayed with me.
My early exposure to figure drawing set the stage for me to continue drawing inspiration from forms in nature. I have always favoured portraiture and figure drawing.
I am most passionate about painting pet portraits.
I feel so very fortunate to be able to do what I love to do ... painting portraits of people's precious pets! My favourite moment is when I am able to capture that priceless expression of loyalty in a dog's eyes, the curious, intent gaze in the cat's eyes or the peaceful, tentative expression in a horse's eyes.
I recently moved to the beautiful Okanagan Valley where my dogs and I enjoy exploring the mountainside trails and the spectacular views of Kelowna.
10% of my net profits are donated to non-profit groups that improve the lives of animals.
